Ukuadventures in LA: Weird-Skin Fever!

Dear Blob,
I forgot to mention I've got some weird splotchy skin condition in the exact same place on both hands, which appeared overnight. It seems to be an allergic reaction, perhaps to plants or dirt, of which I've been dabbling in.

My hands appear to have been splashed with dark stain, the opposite of my imaginary BFF, Michael Jackson's supposed splotchy skin-whitening disease, vitiligo. The weblet of my fingers, when spread like an enthusiastic gymnast, now has super-dark pigment reaching from between the pinkies to each finger-web and the entire fleshy top-hand section near the thumb. It's slightly itchy, now and again but from my interweb research, does not seem to be cancer, thank meep.

Speaking in reading-words, of Michael Jackson, I used to have a re-occuring dream that I helped him, listened to him, like a therapist friend. One night I dreamt my good non-imaginary friend, Jeff Brown, beat out Michael Jackson in Blue Man Group Auditions. I told Jeff of this dream and he went out and auditioned for Blue Man, winning a spot on the Blue Man squad and has been paying his bills catching mock-marshmallows in his mouth for years.

When Brittney Spears was troubled, I dreamt several times I was her helper-therapist friend. Thankfully, those dreams have passed; I have no interest in helping Brittney. Michael, yes, but sadly, he didn't hear my Psychic MeepCall of Friendship.

UkuAdventures in Mexico: Fish, Schmooze & Popsicles!

Dear Blob,
It’s been a social couple of days, schmoozing with the Expats, being poured tequila from Tequila and making new friendsies. America Day, as the Canadians call July 4th, found Jessaly in Melaque at 2 birthday parties. Invited & chauffeured by Buster, I ate cake twice, finally swam in the perfect-temperature tropical ocean & shopped at Super Hawaiian, the largest grocery store nearish, which sells my favorite, imported fancy cheese!

It’s confusing to the expats that Thessica works. (The Ukulady's Day Job) Hawaii Carla informed us that Work is a 4-letter word around here. Regardless, I’ve been somewhat productive, cobbling together a routine, which needs to change. My usual work ‘n’ workout in the morning/run errands in the afternoon is not compatible with the climate or the tortilla store, which closes super early, a new discovery.

Today, after working all morning, marketing my Fundraising Campaign for my upcoming new album (Contribute here & get the album for free!), I introduced Jessica to Anusara yoga, practicing via the interweb.

An hour yoga practice in this climate is just about the only thing I can accomplish in the heatyheat day, aside from voraciously reading sociology books about Mexico. Eye on the Prize, I did manage to record harmonies for Flowerweek, as well as mistakenly running errands between 2 – 4, which was unbearably hot, hence the need for change. Work later, errands early…

I’m in love with the Fish Co-op! Interestingly buying groceries here is more expensive than eating out; except for Fish! Fish is ridiculously cheap and outrageously delicious! I purchased a satchel of giant shrimp for $2.50! We will live on Fish, mango limes ‘n’ avocados!

It is thrilling to have the laundress do my laundry for a mere $2.00! I adore Cheap Thrills!

In addition to working, we had our first dinner guest; Drummer Ian popped in for a visit, just in time to enjoy Delicious Fish with us. We met Fernando, the proudly-open neighborhood Meep dealer, who delivers shirtless, via bike. We enjoyed popsicles , running into ItalianSanFrancisco Mike, who invited us to his brother-in-law’s palatial mansion for Smoked Steaks on Sunday!

The day concluded with being reminded I’m on TV Tonight! No need to clarify Mexican or American. Old friends on the East Coast caught iKid with Brad Garrett, and via Facebook said Meeep! Ukulady, you are on TV Tonight!

ps: I wish we could ship OC to the Tea Party HQ.
pps: The temperature returned to Hot today , Calour, as my new amigo, Pedro the tchotchke-salesman corrected me, not Caliente. Which is good for the carpet, bad for perkiness-factor.
pps: I heard Mexicans listening to MJ's Human Nature! Listening to people listening..

Congrats Michael Jackson!

Dear Blob,
I'm so relieved Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch will not become bank-owned! He's been saved by a corporation which he partly controls! If only all the millions of home-losing Americans were pals with fiscally-saavy billionaires. This is not meant to be snarky, as I really love Michael Jackson and while I am horrified at his physical appearance, I am mostly saddened by his downfall and the grief he wears on his sleeves at all times. If I were to get a masters degree in psychology I would do my thesis on MJ. What happened? After reading LaToya's "autobiography", Michael's "Unauthorized Biography" and a book called "The Magic & The Maddness", I have various theories which are depressing and unsavory to think about. I'm pleased Michael has managed to hold onto some dignity. He seems so physically and emotionally damaged.

ps: I keep wondering my my new TV BFF, Ruby, has been doing all week. Waiting a week to hang out with her again, via the television, kind of sucks. I prefer watching TV on Hulu.
pps: Manpanion and I have been watching Alf! I love Alf! I have a non-dirty crush on Alf

Dreamin' of Brittney!!

Dear Blog,
So before Michael Jackson moved to Bahrain to wear women's Arabic clothing in bathrooms, I used to have a reaccuring dream that we were good friends and I helped him, theraputically. I had a version of this dream about 4 times. Well, I've had the dream again, however, this time I was performing long-form improv with Brittney Spears at a comedy cafe in Topanga Canyon. We were good friends and held hands, but not in a girlfriend way. I'm a little obsessed with Brit. She's preggers again, barf, with Barfderline's baby. Gross. I feel bad for her though; for what is Brit, but a pathetic pawn of her fame-obsessed Mommy! Although she is fatty mcfatwich these days, she's still far prettier than her hideously ugly younger sister, Jamie Lyn Spears, star of crapola nickelodeon live action schlop. So, to quell the rumors, I'm not in an improv troupe with Brittney Spears, although, dreams do come true....Aim high!
